Who we are

We are passionate about duplicating. Its all we do. As the first CD archive service in Australia, and the second in the world, we are the worlds's oldest disc archiving then duplicating service. Quite a claim!
Bernhard Kirschner, our Director, imported the first Sony CD-ROM burner into Australia in Jan 1993, and started the service of archiving to CD, when the term cuting a CD was used.  The company started slowly in Bondi Junction, when blank media cost $50.00 each, a CD burner $15,000 and every 3rd failed, and were called coasters as they had novely value under coffee cups. The business then moved to Surrey Hills, where Kirschner had opened the first internet shop/cafe in Sydney, then as it grew to North Sydney. In 2003, the group moved to new, bigger shop on the Ground Floor at 173 Pacific Highway, North Sydney, next to our previous premises in Northpoint.
CD-ROM Services Pty Ltd is recognised by the trade and computer professionals as the experts and leaders in this field.

CD ROM Services services include full service quick turnaround Compact Disc and DVD duplicating service. Services include premastering your audio data and video if required, CD and DVD labelling, printing both black (cheapest) and full colour printing onto CDs and DVDs. We can also advise you on designing the paper parts for your disc packaging, as well as supplying a wide variety of disc cases. These services are for from one or two copies to mass duplication and replication.

Quality is one of our key goals, with continual quality control, using only top quality disc media, such as Taiyo Yuden discs. Taiyo Yuden is the Japanese company that together with Philips and Sony invented the first recordable discs. Taiyo Yuden do not market to the general public, supplying most of their high grade production to duplicators such as ourselves. They are the only company still making recordable discs in Japan. A good comparison would be like comparing Michelin tyres to others. With Michelin you pay more, but you getting a known higher standard material.

We have over 34 Rimage robotic duplicators, which both burn, verify and print automatically, offering state-of-the-art facilities, and a huge capacity With all these resources we are proud to be able to offer affordable prices using the finest quality media.

With four full colour inkjet printers, 30 Rimage Thermal Black and 6 Everest gloss colour printing we can offer just the right technology to show your printed DVDs and CDs best. Our exclusive ‘Laserkote’ printing process is another option that gives you a vibrant coloured laser print on your discs which is suitable for medium or short run jobs, delivered quickly

CD-ROM Services Pty Ltd were one of the first to offer memory card duplication and distribution services including memory stick duplication, flash memory duplication, smart media duplication, most mobile memory media, and USB card duplication, including custom printing on the card. Our software for memory card or flash card duplication has been sold worldwide, and we are now able to supply complete card duplicators.

Our history

CD-ROM Services Pty Ltd is an extension of an archival tape backup service offered by ComputerWave Pty Ltd stated in 1987.
ComputerWave Pty Ltd, formed by Bernhard Kirschner in 1981, was major seller of Apple, Atari and Texas Instruments products. ComputerWave was also a major importer and reseller of computer game and early business software. Many of Sydney’s first computer buyers would have seen their first personal computer and purchased their first software from ComputerWave first in Myer's Sydney store then in George Street, Sydney in the early 80’s.
ComputerWave still supplies disc duplicating systems together with CD-ROM Services Pty Ltd.

James Brough our technical manager, was the company's first full time employee since 1995 is still with the company. James is one of the world's most experienced technicians on compact disc technology.
In 1998, Andrew Host's company CD Makers merged with CD ROM Services, bringing and still offering audio expertise to the company. Andrew is an audio engineer, who has wide experience in converting reel to reel tape, cassette and other sound storage to CD and mp3. Andrew is also one of the few experts who has the know-how to restore deteriorating valuable audio tape.
